Through high school, the prefrontal cortex will send + receive messages much more slowly than the limbic system. This isn’t necessarily bad!

The prefrontal cortex is in charge of consequential thinking, executive function, and planning.

  • It’s designed to balance the impulses of the limbic system by weighing outcomes before making a decision.

But it also stops us from trying new things or taking risks that could wind up producing amazing outcomes.

  • Most tech company founders started their companies when their limbic systems were dominant!
