An erection is when the penis becomes hard and enlarged.

This happens when blood flow to the penis increases.

Even babies have erections! But they become more frequent during puberty.

Erections happen for lots of reasons:

When a person has a sexual thought.
When parts of the body, including the penis, are touched.
For no reason at all — this is called an involuntary or spontaneous erection.
