Sperm are male reproductive cells. They carry the genetic material that might one day help make a baby.

Sexually mature males make 200-300 million sperm per day –– that’s 1,500 sperm per second!

The production of sperm cells is called spermatogenesis.

Sperm spend 50-60 days developing in the testes.
Sperm move to the epididymis, where they spend 14 days fully maturing and remain until ejaculation.
If sperm are not ejaculated in the next 60-70 days, the body breaks them down.
Because sperm production is constant, the supply never runs out.
